AAM FlowerAcknowledgment Letter (Sample)

Thanking your donors is one of the most important parts of any campaign. A thank you lets donors know that they are valued, invests them as part of a group effort, and inspires them to continue to be involved in the issue. Adopt-A-Minefield acknowledges our supporters both when they originally donate, and when the action they funded, whether mine clearance or survivor assistance, has been successfully completed. Below is a sample letter that you can use in your own campaign.

Thank you very much for your recent contribution of «Contribution»  to «Local Campaign Name».  Adopt-A-Minefield® engages individuals, community groups, and businesses in the United Nations effort to resolve the global landmine crisis.  The Campaign helps save lives by raising funds for mine clearance and victim assistance and by raising awareness about the landmine problem.

We have deposited your contribution into a segregated Adopt-A-Minefield account that we have established for our campaign.  It will be pooled with other resources to clear «Minefield ID#» in «Minefield Location», «Minefield Country».  Once we have achieved our fundraising goal of «Fundraising Target», we shall forward your contribution to the national Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign.  From there, it will be disbursed to the United Nations for clearance of your adopted site.

The United Nations will ensure that your adopted minefield is cleared according to international standards for humanitarian mine clearance.  The national Adopt-A-Minefield Campaign works closely with the United Nations to monitor this process and to ensure that all contributions are properly allocated.  They will inform us once the mine clearance operations have been completed.  Additionally, information about your adopted site is available online at www.landmines.org.

(Only include the following paragraph if you are a 501(c)(3) tax deductible organization)

Finally, in accordance with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, please accept this letter as official acknowledgment and receipt of your contribution of «Contribution» to «Local Campaign Name».  We have not provided any goods or services in consideration of this sum.  This information is provided for the purpose of complying with IRS reporting requirements and is accurate to the best of our knowledge.

Thank you for helping us clear a path to a safer world.
