Corporations: How To Get Involved
The idea behind Adopt-A-Minefield is simple, yet powerful. The Campaign seeks national and international sponsors to adopt minefields, adopt two-month work periods for demining teams, or donate funds for survivor assistance projects. Many of the world’s leading corporations are among these sponsors.
Corporations represent a unique aspect of the public-private partnership concept at the core of Adopt-A-Minefield. Corporations and their employees can be an important part of the efforts to resolve this imminently solvable global humanitarian problem.
Corporations can support Adopt-A-Minefield in a variety of ways.
- Operational/Core Support: Help us keep our door open while sending almost 100% of donations to the field.
- Matching Funds:Provide matching funds for money raised.
- Underwriting Events: Underwrite fundraising events in return for advertising rights and marketing considerations.
- In-Kind Contributions: Donate products or offer services free or at a discount.
- Adopt a Minefield: Support a specific program.
- Get Employees Involved: Link to the AAM website or feature an article about AAM in your company newsletter.
Case Study: Nuala
In the spring of 2003, Christy Turlington contacted AAM with a wonderfully creative idea combining AAM and nuala, her yoga-inspired clothing line. Christy invited a select group of inspirational woman, including Heather Mills McCartney, to submit two self portraits wearing items from her nuala collection. The portraits were displayed in a “conceptual” magalog used as a direct mail and in-store piece. All of the funds that would have been used to produce a traditional marketing campaign for the Autumn/Winter 2003 season were donated to Adopt-A-Minefield.
Case Study: I.N.C. - INC International Concepts of Inspiration
For their spring 2002 advertising campaign, American fasion company International Concepts of Inspiration wanted a different focus. The were searching for someone with more than just a pretty face, someone who was making a difference, a truly inspirational person.
After hearing her speak at the Mothers & Shakers Awards in New York, I.N.C. asked Heather Mills to front their International Concepts of Inspiration campaign. The campaign has raised significant awareness and funds for Adopt-A-Minefield. To date I.N.C. have donated $100,000 to the charity.
