Marketing and Outreach Intern Description

Adopt-A-Minefield is seeking a Marketing and Outreach Intern to assist the Marketing team in their efforts to educate the public about the global landmine crisis and to raise funds for mine clearance and survivor assistance.  This hands-on position will change and shift as needed, but some of the core responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Marketing team with outreach and education initiatives;
  • Working on special marketing initiatives and events as needed (LA Benefit Gala, Night of a Thousand Dinners, etc.);
  • Carrying out outreach strategies for new and existing donor bases;
  • Researching and compiling data on the landmines issue;
  • Maintaining photo and video library and distributing/disseminating photos as needed;
  • Maintaining and editing website content and database, as needed; and
  • Assisting the Marketing team with administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and some knowledge of electronic databases;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Stellar organizational ability and attention to detail;     
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work independently within a given framework;
  • Ability to work as a team player; and 
  • Strong interest in international affairs.

Program Intern Description

The Program component of Adopt-A-Minefield complements the work of Marketing and Outreach. The Program Manager coordinates the mine action portfolio and related financial aspects of AAM including maintaining institutional relationships with the United Nations and overseas mine action centers, ensuring that the projects funded by AAM will bring the greatest possible benefit within the program countries.  Adopt-A-Minefield is seeking a Program Intern to assist the Program Manager in administrative aspects of the AAM mine action portfolio, including:

  • Writing, editing, and organizing field reports and program-related materials;
  • Researching and compiling data on the landmines issue to disseminate to students, civic organizations, and the general public;
  • Helping maintain and edit website content;
  • Maintaining photo library and distributing/disseminating photos as needed;
  • Reviewing and analyzing Survivor Assistance grant proposals and grantee quarterly and final reports; and
  • Assisting the Program Manager with administrative tasks as needed.

Please note: this hands-on position also involves file maintenance, internal program budgeting/ accounting, database maintenance, production, distribution of materials and other duties.
